Fabrics
|
|
Swirl fabrics are usually viscose (known as rayon in Bali) or cotton. We don't like nylon or polyester!!! Viscose rayon is a semi-synthetic fabric with the benefits of both - it's soft, cool and comfortable and as it's not insulating, it's great for use in hot and humid climates. Our printed fabric items are made in very small production runs (sometimes only 2 or 3 at once) so the chance of bumping into someone in the same frock / top / skirt is very very very small indeed.
We do not produce a printed catalogue. Batik is a wax resist dye technique, and therefore any printed fabrics may have some wax residue on them. This is perfectly natural! We recommend brushing lightly, and then put the tissue paper your item was wrapped in on it, shiny side up, and pass a cool iron over to pick up any remaining wax if necessary.
Natural variations in fabric and their prints are part of a garment's character.
We do not press / iron items prior to dispatch. We recommend hanging our crinkle textured items in a steamy atmosphere (in the bathroom while the shower is running perhaps) to help any creases drop out, or using a hand steam brush.

How to shop
|
Please browse our "shelves" (use the categories on the left, or try the search option for a particular colour or size) and add things you would like to your shopping cart. When you are ready, click onto your cart and proceed to the checkout. If you have shopped at Swirl before and can remember the email address and password you used, you can log in, otherwise please choose the new customer button.
If you have any discount codes, now is the time to apply them!
You can choose to pay by Paypal, or, if you are UK based, by postal order or cheque.
When shopping at Swirl, items are only yours when you have completed checkout. In the very unlikely event of two customers taking the same one-off item to checkout at the same time, the first to complete the process will be the successful purchaser.

Laundry
|
Some of our items are labelled "hand wash only". The girls at Swirl (who wear Swirl clothes the whole time) confess that we hate hand washing and we put all our lovely items in the machine on an environmentally friendly cool wash (30 degrees or less) using a gentle cycle, and then hang to dry. We have worn and washed and loved items for several years and they still look and feel great. However, if items have beads or sequins, you should either hand wash, or place inside a pillowcase or similar to protect the decoration in a machine.
We expected our fabrics to be colour-fast, but recommend a first wash should be with like colours.

Postage & Packing
|
We use NEW packaging materials made from RECYCLED materials, and would like you to reuse or recycle them where possible please.
We send by Royal Mail 1st class recorded post in the UK, and by airmail to Europe, or a better service (for example a next-day courier service in the UK) if appropriate.
By request, we now ship to Australia! If shipping for your country is not shown in the checkout process, you can always contact us for a P&P quote.
Please rememer that if you are shopping from outside the EU, you may have to pay customs duty / tax on your purchase. We cannot declare a lower value or mark as a gift on any customs forms.

Safety notice - important
|

The majority of Swirl clothing comes with a free Balinese beaded ring (exceptions being accessories, such as wraps and sarongs). These are not suitable for very young children. Please do not let youngsters play unsupervised with any Swirl accessories.

* OS - "one size", theoretically where "one size fits all" * medium or small/medium, for smaller than OS * "2x" or "3x" for larger than OS We list the sizes we expect will work for each item. The girls at Swirl measure each style, and we try items on ourselves to be able to recommend sizing based on our experience, and the table below.
